At the heart of Sebenza, LLC, lies a story of vision, resilience, and deeply personal inspiration. The company’s name, Sebenza, which means “work” in Zulu, perfectly encapsulates the spirit and drive that propelled our founder to create a company rooted in purposeful action and meaningful impact.

The Inspiration Behind the Name

The journey to Sebenza began long before the company itself. Peta Cappello, our founder, had a prior life that was marked by a series of defining experiences—moments of challenge and transformation—that fueled her determination to forge a path where passion meets purpose. Having witnessed firsthand the power of hard work and the impact of creating solutions that matter, she sought a name that would embody this ethos. The choice of “Sebenza”, rooted in the culture of her birthplace-South Africa, reflects not only a commitment to diligent effort but also a deeper reverence for craftsmanship, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence. It’s a tribute to her background—a life shaped by overcoming obstacles, harnessing creativity, and challenging the norms.

Raymond Gibbs - Senior Vice President, Sebenza LLC,

Raymond Gibbs is a results-driven leader transforming how government agencies tackle technology. As SVP at Sebenza LLC, Ray architects high-performance IT solutions that empower federal, state, and local agencies to operate with agility, security, and compliance. From cybersecurity and infrastructure management to full-scale help desk and application services, Ray ensures clients get more than just support, they get a strategic partner.
With over two decades of experience in business operations, sales, and talent strategy.
Ray earned his BS in Engineering from Florida State University and a Master of Project Management from Keller Graduate School. He is an active voice in leading professional organizations, including PMI, ASQ, NSBE, SHRM, and ASA.

Pamela Connolly - Chief Financial Officer, Sebenza LLC,

Pam Connolly has been handling all financial aspects for Sebenza since its start in 2004. She worked closely with Sebenza’s founder to provide services tailored to the needs of the business, including bookkeeping, budgeting, payroll, and federal and state reporting requirements.
Pam is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of the University of Maryland.

Chelsea Gibbs - National Accounts Manager, Sebenza LLC,

Chelsea Gibbs is a versatile HR leader with a rich background spanning recruitment, engineering, and operations management. As Senior Account Manager at Sebenza LLC, Chelsea plays a key role in driving candidate and account strategy, overseeing HR policies, employee engagement, and ATS operations. A longstanding contributor to Sebenza since 2005, she brings deep institutional knowledge and a sharp focus on people-first business practices.
In addition to her role at Sebenza, Chelsea serves as an HR Business Partner and Office Manager at a premier venue management company with operations worldwide. Her cross-industry experience includes engineering positions at Underwriters Laboratories and Boeing, where she specialized in EMC compliance. Chelsea also has extensive volunteer-driven leadership experience, managing operations for community organizations like Komen NC Triangle to the Coast and Koka Booth Amphitheatre.
Chelsea holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Florida A&M University, reflecting her technical foundation and analytical mindset that support her dynamic approach to HR and business operations.

Sharon Boyd - HR Business Partner, Sebenza LLC,

Sharon Boyd is a seasoned HR and Recruitment professional with over 30 years of experience connecting people, purpose, and performance. She is a Certified Recruiter, Certified DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging) Facilitator, and a Humanity Practice Facilitator, committed to building workplaces rooted in dignity, equity, and authentic connection.
Throughout her career, Sharon has led transformative recruitment and talent strategies across industries, helping organizations attract, retain, and empower exceptional talent. She’s known not only for her expertise, but for her heart-led approach—championing inclusive hiring practices and cultivating environments where every individual feels seen, valued, and respected.
Sharon is deeply passionate about creating a Humanity First practice in the workplace. She brings a bold voice, a wealth of knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to people-first leadership.
